Challenge
A benefits administration startup needed a portal for employers, brokers, and internal admins to submit employer information, initiate the administration workflow, and surface quote information. With a three-person delivery team and a fundraising milestone ahead, the work needed practical project coordination and clear QA coverage.
My role
I worked as a consultant focused on project management and QA support. My role was to help keep delivery organized, create test plans, document bugs, and validate the core workflows that mattered for client-side and internal use.
Approach
I focused on the workflow paths that would best demonstrate the platform's operating value: employer intake, broker/admin visibility, and quote surfacing. The work stayed close to the client's immediate business need without expanding into unsupported functionality.
Work performed
- Supported scope and delivery coordination across a small project team.
- Created QA test plans for employer intake and quote-surfacing flows.
- Logged and communicated bugs through Slack and Google Docs.
- Helped validate workflows for employers, brokers, and internal admins.
- Supported readiness for internal, client-side, and investor-facing review.
Outputs
- Workflow-focused QA test plans.
- Bug reports and issue tracking notes.
- Validated portal flows for employer intake and quote visibility.
Outcome
The portal helped the company demonstrate a stronger product foundation and supported its ability to unlock additional pre-seed funding.
Constraints
- Client and product names anonymized.
- Funding amount omitted.
- Specific timeline omitted.
